Our trip to the rural and tranquil village of Symonds Yat, in historic Herefordshire, is perfectly situated for a half term get away. Staying in a historic, converted, three-storey Victorian House in the heart of the Wye Valley this is an ideal UK holiday for single parents and kids. with the option of a 3, 4 or 7 night break.

Centrally located between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, in an area of natural beauty, there is something for everyone here. The accommodation is set on the edge of woodland with open fires (but we hope that you won’t need them as it will be wall to wall sunshine in August!) and views of the River Wye providing a peaceful background to your holiday. There’s even a hot tub to make sure you can unwind and relax!  As well as strolling along the river or to one of the three local pubs (one is accessed by river ferry!) Symonds Yat is perfect for letting the kids explore with so much to do on the doorstep with walking and water activities galore.  Take a walk to the famous Yat Rock or try a a river cruise or canoeing! The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are idyllic spots to get outside and have fun.

Something for everyone in a truly stunning location.

There is so much on the doorstep of this trip with lots of places to walk and explore within the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Lots of local attractions are within easy distance, suitable for everyone from tots to teens. Several outdoor activity centres offer the chance for mountaineering, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking and more!  For a day out, you could try the Amazing Hedge Maze and test your puzzle skills! or take a trip to the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, a tropical retreat on a cold or wet day or try your hand at miniature golf  set in the ruins of a Roman villa.

There are three local pubs offering food and village ambiance and several places of interest including Yat’s Rock. Despite being in an area of natural beauty, shops and eateries are nearby in the towns of Monmouth and the Forest of Dean.

As with all of our Single With Kids’ holidays, the holiday will be hosted by a coordinator, who will arrange daily events and get togethers for the group.

A great central location  in the Wye Valley, in Hereford. The nearest station is Lydney, there is a bus service from Coleford to Symonds Yat (the 309) the postcode for sat navs is HR9 6BL To check directions by public transport, we recommend using the website www.traveline.info or click on the little Google map to the right.

The accommodation for this holiday is in a lovely converted 3-storey Victorian House on the edge of woodland and in a peaceful and private area with stunning views. As well as the bedrooms there are plenty of places to get together and catch up including two sitting rooms, both with open fires, and window seats,  a separate snug means and a wonderfully large and light dining room where we can all eat together round one large table, looking out to the terrace through the huge patio doors. There’s also a separate fully equipped utility room and a covered hot tub!

There are 2 and 4- bed rooms available with double, twin and bunk beds. options. Some rooms have ensuites but toilets are available on all floors and baths and showers are on each of the upper two floors.

Board Basis

This is a self catering trip and no meals are provided however a couple of communal meals will be arranged throughout the holiday, starting with a ‘Meet & Greet’ buffet on the first evening (everyone brings something for the table).

What's Included

The cost includes self catering accommodation in private or shared rooms. The property is exclusive to Single With Kids and the break is accompanied by a Single With Kids’ coordinator who arranges events and get-togethers throughout the event.

The shared room is available for families of one adult & one child, and is suitable for children aged 4 or over. There will be a maximum of 4 people in this room.

Linen and towels are provided but please bring your own towels for the hot tub. There is no extra charge for heating, electricity or water.

Trip Size

A smaller trip with around 20 parents and children on this break – a great size for anyone considering their first event with Single With Kids.



Prices & Booking

The prices are per person for the 3, 4 or 7 night holiday. There are a mix of single, double, twin and family rooms, with double, twin and bunk beds – we will allocate these according to the mix of ages and genders.

The group will be accompanied by a Single With Kids’ coordinator who will arrange group events during the break.
