The Lake District is a lovely location all year round and a great destination for a Spring break. A popular break in our program, we couldn’t help resist a bank holiday break here. The rhododendrons will just be coming into blossom, the nights lighter and it’s a great place for getting out and about after the long winter months.
Ambleside is in the very heart of the Lake District and a popular base for watersports, walking and climbing enthusiasts as well as those who simply want to amble in the market towns enjoying good company and local attractions. Lying at the heart of the Lake District National Park at the head of Lake Windermere, the town nestles under a crown of fells. The central location makes it an ideal spot from which to tour the Lake District, with the towns of Windermere, Grassmere, Ambleside all within very easy reach.
Many lovely walks can be taken from Ambleside, one not to be missed is the walk to Stockghyll Force, a beautiful waterfall set in woodland one mile to the east of the village. At Waterhead pier rowing boats can be hired, or you can take a trip on one of the launches which sail on Lake Windermere, stopping at Bowness-on- Windermere or journey the full length of the lake to Lakeside at the southern lakes.
This is a 3 night trip for the May Bank holiday weekend, arriving on Friday 3rd May, leaving on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May 2019 (and probably spending the day locally)
Located just on the outskirts of Ambleside, close to lovely market towns and with the fabulous backdrop of the south Lakes. The post code for sat navs is LA22 9LX
As this trip has shared rooms, the minimum age is 4 years old.
We’re staying in a lovely bunk barn for this break. Value accommodation but recently refurbished to a comfortable standard, the accommodation offers a large communal lounge, well-equipped self catering kitchen, toilets and showers and a number of large, dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds. The rooms will be shared with families with the same gender parent, a great way to break the ice and create a ‘sleep-over’ style feel for the children.
This is a self catering trip and no meals are provided however a couple of communal meals will be arranged throughout the holiday, starting with a ‘Meet & Greet’ buffet on the first evening (everyone bring something for the table), through to a good value pub lunch in Windermere. Communal pasta and pizza nights are good fun too!
Further details will be provided closer to the event.
The holiday will be accompanied by a Single With Kids coordinator who will organise group events and outings. These events are not obligatory, feel free to dip in and out as you choose. **Any entrance fees are NOT included in the price**
The cost includes self catering accommodation in shared rooms. The property is exclusive to Single With Kids and the break is accompanied by a Single With Kids’ coordinator who arranges events and get-togethers throughout the event.
A smaller trip there’ll be a maximum of 25 parents and children on this break – a great size for anyone considering their first event with Single With Kids.

Check out what our past guests have said....
" What a great weekend with fantastic people in the most beautiful venue. The activities were all great fun, but the best thing about the trip was the way the children were able to play freely outdoors from dusk to dawn. Becky is the best coordinator too! "

" We’ve really loved our trip at Llangollen. Loads of activities within a short distance of the hostel. Paddling in the river, great swimming pool in Acrefair (Plas Madoc), fabulous canoeing at Chirk Boathouse and stunning views from the boat trip across the aqueduct. The hostel was in a lovely handy location with shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance and a small fun park by the river. Great company and a very welcoming and thoughtful coordinator. "

" After looking the SWK holidays website for over a year, I finally booked a break with my kids. Fort Belan over the summer has been great.
