I posted this link on my facebook feed and was amazed at the discussion it created.

Moves are being made to ensure all pupils know up tot their 12 times table before leaving primary school - as we did so many years ago.

How essential is this?

I never learned my times tables, and still managed to do well in maths and get a science degree.
Onwards and upwards.
