That's our lot for the year.
Felt a bit odd to be deliberately heading into a storm to go camping but we survived with no major mishap - both tents survived intact but the shelter took a bit of a hit (soon repaired).
Many thanks to the lovely Jo Jo who came to the rescue when my fire-starting skills took an early bath.
Anyway, we're done for the year now, tents packed away in dry storage, kitchen & bedding all stacked ready for over-winter maintenance.
Reading through previous posts I see that camping chairs seem to be a consumable for us (we need more again) - now wondering if it's really worth spending bucks on a decent/named fold away chair or whether to head right down market and just accept that they barely last a season.
Now the wee lad has his own tent it's also time to review the serious business of my bedding kit (his set up is just right). For the last few years (when we've been sharing) I've simply adopted the nomadic style of plenty blankets etc. over & under. Thinking now that I should consider a proper sleeping bag - it was a wee bit nippy at half term.
Anyway, the long dark nights are now with us and although it's not too long till we'll be rocking into the new season it is good to see that the diary has some alternative adventures penned in for us over winter.
Be good, be careful ... be happy
... and remember, children are like fires ... look after them when they're small and they will look after you when they're big.
