Loss my dad on Tuesday this week
« on: September 11, 2011, 04:53:02 PM »
Very emotional time and is a reminder of some of the family issues we have been carrying for a long time.
Trying to concentrate on the happy memories and would like to learn more about our family history that is a bit regal!!

Trying to concentrate on the happy memories

That's the thing, but try to be prepared for a whole heap of emotional whirlwinds - they do seem to go as fast as they arrive.

I'm so sorry to hear this M, no matter how much warning we have of these things (age or illness), they still hit us like a huge emotional juggernaut.  Nothing can prepare you for the grief although in time the happy memories take over from the loss and you're able to reminisce about your loved on and smile rather than breakdown in tears. Everyone finds their own way to manage this, we found it easier to keep my dad very much "alive" in our conversations, even though my girls never met him, they know everything about him and he's very much a topic of conversation when I go home to see my mum / sister.

My deepest sympathy for you and all your family at this heart-wrenching time.

Silky x

A positive mental attitude may not solve all your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"
