Tipi Holiday – Frequently Asked Questions
Although we try and put as much information as possible on our holiday pages, if you’re new to Single With Kids we’re sure you’ll have more questions! We’ve tried to cover all of these below, if you have any queries that aren’t answered below, please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Tipi Holiday for Single Parents
1. Do you provide transport?
We have families travelling from all over the UK so can’t provide transport but we do encourage car sharing. Please do post on our forum to see if anyone lives nearby.
2. I don’t know anyone…
You’re in the majority! Most of the families on the trip will never have met before – your coordinator will arrange get togethers and events to bring the group together. You may be strangers to begin with, you’ll end up leaving as friends. There is a buffet on the first night that is always a good icebreaker.
3. What is the board basis?
This holiday is self catering – there will be some group meals including a pizza making evening!
4. What is included in the price of the holiday?
SWK have exclusive use of the whole site! The cost is based on your own private Tipi for families of 3 and more or a shared Yurt.
The holiday will be accompanied by a Single With Kids coordinator who will organise group events and outings. These events are not obligatory, feel free to dip in and out as you choose.
5. How big will the group be?
This is a medium sized trip. There are 4 private 5 bedded Tipis and 5 Yurts 2 x 5 bedded and 3 x 6 bedded – the total spaces available are 48 which is around 14 families.
6. What group activities will there be?
The proposed itinerary is open to discussion at the welcome buffet on the first night. There will be a spread of activities/ excursions that will cater for the ages of the group. Including a Boat cruise along the River Wye and Puzzlewood trip!
7. Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs on our holidays.
8. What do I bring for the welcome buffet on the first night?
Something that can be put on the table and can possibly used for the picnic the next day.
1. Is bedding provided ?
No, you will need bedding – duvet and pillows (with covers) or a sleeping bag.
2. What is in the Tipis/ Yurts?
In each of the Tipis there is a double bed and foam mattress’ for the children. A small gas stove and kettle are provided together with two small tables, sheepskins, rugs and firewood.
The Yurts there is also a double bed ans foam mattress’ there is also a two ring gas stove , kettle, beautiful rugs, sheepskins, lanterns plus two small wooden tables and firewood.
Outside both the Tipis and the Yurts you will find your own fire pit and hammock!!
There are 2 communal kitchens with clay earth ovens! There is communal outside sitting spaces. You will also find rustic loos and showers!!
3. Is there parking outside the property?
The site is a car free zone. So no worries for those with small children. The car park is situated next to the camp site where you will find wheelbarrows to take your luggage and food down to the site. The furthest tipi is no more than 250m approx from the car park.
4. What other things do I need to bring?
You need bedding – duvet, pillow and covers or a sleeping bag.
Basic cleaning equipment is provided – you will need to bring washing up liquid, cleaning liquids (e.g. anti bac for the kitchen work tops), bin liners and tea towels.
Towels – bath!
5. What is the check in/out times?
You can check in from 4 pm and check out is at 10 am on the day of departure.
6. Is there WiFi there?
No… you are totally at one with nature!

Simple down to earth pleasures are many… Bake homemade pizza in the Earth Oven… Make a cool den in the Ancient Wood, make a bow and arrow from the wood you find, cook on an open fire, explore our woodland tracks! Star gazing, bird and animal spotting, climbing trees, paddling and picnicing on the banks of the River Wye, walking the many public footpaths.

This is in Hereford around 5 miles from the site. A taxi from here will cost approximately £25.00
2. Where is the nearest shop?
The nearest supermarkets are in Hereford around a 6 mile drive from the site.
