One of the biggest and best free playgrounds in Europe, Wicksteed Park is a fantastic combination between a Country Park and a Leisure Park.
One of the most popular visitor attractions in Northamptonshire, the park attracts over 1 millions visits a year and has been welcoming visitors since 1916.
The extensive playground has a huge variety of themed play areas – swings, see-saws, climbing frames, adventure modules and activities – all designed to keep the kids happily and safely entertained for hours. Next to the Playground is the huge Twin Pirate Ship – a stomach churning, gravity defying ride. Nearby you’ll find a traditional Galloper Carousel, Lazer Quest, Mini drop tower, 18 hole Crazy Golf Course and the new 9 hole Golf Putting challenge. The Fairground sited at the top of the Park offers a range of attractions that are targeted specifically at families with young children up to the age of 13 / 14 years old.
Not surprisingly, most of the Lakeside’s attractions feature water in one form or another. Here you’ll find a large man-made 30 acre lake complete with family rowing boats, the Small Lake children’s boats and hugely popular Bumper Boats. In keeping with the ‘watery’ theme, Wicksteed also have the Waterchute and the Nautic Jets.
The last bank holiday of the summer, and a good way to celebrate before getting into back-to-school mode. Arrive from 12pm on Saturday 26th August 2017, leaving at leisure on Bank Holiday Monday 28th.
We also have a number of spaces available for anyone wishing to arrive on the Friday or extend the break to the Tuesday to make the most of this fun location.

The Wicksteed campsite is in the grounds of the park, and just across the field from the main activities. The facilities on site have been upgraded in 2010 and now include a heated shower block, toilets and washing up points.
Whilst there is no camping shop on site, there are a number of places in the park that serve fast food and confectionery. The site is also close to a large Tesco superstore for any missing essentials.
The park is open until 6pm, afterwards Wicksteed takes on a much more tranquil feel, there’s nothing better than a walk around the lake watching the sun set.
The cost is based on a camping pitch without electric hook up and including up to 4 people (1 adult and 3 children). The pitch can hold a tent, campervan or caravan. There’s a small charge for additional adults and children. Whilst there are many free areas at Wicksteed, there is a small charge for the rides. These can be paid for per ride, alternatively there are wristbands available which give free access for a full day.
You will need to provide your own tent – for any beginners you can pick up tents fairly cheaply at a variety of outdoor stores, our forum is also a useful source of information on this.
This is a larger trip and we have space for up to 100 pitches. There’s always a good mix of regulars and newcomers on this trip, and children of all ages.
