There’s nothing like waking up to birdsong and toasting marshmallows at a campfire to help you break away from the stresses and strains of 21st century living. Living close to nature, enjoying the rhythm of the day in the cosy comfort of a beautiful handcrafted tipi is guaranteed to give you a holiday to remember.
Enjoy the freedom of the fields and woods around you, chat around the campfire at dusk or discover nearby beaches and towns. This UK Tipi holiday really is the stuff dreams are made of. Set in the heart of Herefordshire within an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty we are staying on a small and intimate site – with a small number of tipis and yurts each with their own private space with a group setting.
The children (and adults) have an amazing 11 acres of woodland to explore and make dens in, 6 acres of which is Ancient Woodland (commonly called the Wild Wood!). There is plenty of opportunity to kick back and totally enjoy the space and tranquility here … with the simple, rustic and luxurious interiors, the hammock just outside your tent, or following the many tracks and footpaths here or by the nearby River Wye.
Towards dusk you can get to grips with the Earth Oven in the Bake House and cook delicious pizza or bread … then cosy up by your own campfire, always a popular way to spend a summer evening. Tipi holidays are a fun and a fantastically wholesome activity for all the family, a kids holiday that will be remembered forever.
There is so much to do on a Tipi holiday! Turn back the clocks and tear the kids away from their gadgets, a break in a tipi is an adventure straight out of a story book. The fabulous woodland of our tipi site can entertain the kids for hours, however there’s plenty to do nearby too for those who like to explore.
If you can tear yourself away from the peace and tranquility of our beautiful campsite, Herefordshire is a county of unspoilt countryside, market towns of distinctive character and a wide variety of landscapes from a historic City to fascinating villages. The Forest of Dean is nearby as are the Malvern Hills, or visit the lovely towns of Ross or Hay-on-Wye. Of course a Tipi holiday wouldn’t be complete without a cowboy & indian dressing up session….
This tipi holiday is based in Little Dewchurch, just south of Hereford in a fabulous woodland setting. The postcode for those travelling by car is HR2 6QD.

We have exclusive use of this lovely site, all holidaymakers will be Single With Kids, great fun for the children, good peace of mind for the adults. The site holds a mixture of tipis and yurts.
The traditional Sioux Native American tipis each sleep 4-5 comfortably. Each is placed sympathetically within beautiful woodland clearings facing the site’s own private grassland valley. Each tipi is furnished with everything you need for camping in luxury and style. Each tipi has a camping gas stove, giving you the option of cooking inside. A small barbeque is also provided. The main difference between the tipis and yurts apart from their different shapes is the method of heating inside. The tipis are ideal for one family.
The traditional Mongolian yurts sleep 4-5 people comfortably, one is larger and sleeps up to 7. It is an incredibly light and cosy space and houses the same equipment as the tipi, except that the yurts have a woodburning stove and the tipis have a chimenea – you have the option of a fire in both. Every tipi and yurt has it’s own outdoor firepit and table and seating, plus a hammock. Each tipi and yurt has a king sized bed raised off the ground with a handcrafted wooden headboard and large mattress. There are three single foam mattresses in each tent too, which can be placed wherever you choose and can be piled on top of each other in the daytime to make more space. There are 5 singles and a kingsize bed in the largest Yurt. Yurts are shared between 2-3 families in each depending on size of yurt and families.
• Gas camping stove • Handmade seating • Coconut matting flooring • Rugs • Cushions • Lanterns • Candles • Water container • Sheepskins • Blankets • Storage boxes(in yurts) • Outdoor firepit & BBQ • Firewood and matches
On site you’ll also find two great piping hot showers, a roll top bath, three flush toilets, two washbasins and a kitchen area with 2 electric ovens and 6 small fridges, kitchen table, food storage space, sink, all crockery, cultlery , teapots, saucepans, frying pans etc, mugs, cups and wine glasses.
Bedding is not included, please bring a sleeping bag or duvets.
There is also a central dining area under canvas, there is a second communal area deeper into the site.
The price of the holiday includes accommodation in either a private tipi or shared yurt, with Single With Kids having exclusive use of the site.
The holiday is self catering but a number of group meals will be organised throughout the trip. The holiday will be accompanied by a Single With Kids coordinator who will arrange group get-togethers and events, please do feel free to dip in and out of these as you wish.

The price of this holiday includes 4 nights in either a Yurt or Tipi on this lovely wooded site. We have the site exclusive to our group and the group is accompanied by a Single With Kids coordinator, who will arrange events and get togethers throughout the break. The holiday is self catering.
The prices are per person and depend on the accommodation you choose:
Tipis are private, ie there will only be your family in the tent. These are available for families of a minimum of 3 people.
Yurts are larger and ideal to share between two or three families. You can either choose the double bed (which you will need to book for you and your child), or the single beds or both if you have more than one child. The families sharing the yurt will always have the same gender parent and we will match kids as much as possible in terms of age.

What do families think of their Single With Kids holiday? Read some of the lovely feedback below!
" it was a great venue and experience. It's so good to see kids run wild with nature and have fun without so much as a ride, slot machine or electronic game in sight. "
" The holiday was great and the flexible itinerary enabled us to dip in and out freely. Bill, out coordinator showed a great general knowledge of the area and it was great to let someone else take control of what we did and where we went every day! Everything was fabulous. I am already getting carried away looking at other SWK breaks! The hightlight was watching my otherwise shy son run freely in the woods with his new friends. A perfect location and perfect mix of people! Thank you again, it really was a wonderful break! "
" Amazing location, facilities and everyone was so friendly. Loved every minute of it and none of us wanted to go home. "
" As an opportunity to meet new people and experience a unique campsite. "
" Campfires, watching my daughter make new friends and disappearing to play for hours, having a glass or two with new adult friends, the beautiful countryside and location. "

" Fabulous location, great company and the kids had a ball! Definitely a great experience of SWK. Loopy Laura extremely entertaining. Can’t wait to do the next one. "
" I had a perfect time! "
" his was our first swk holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The girls had such a good time making new friends, as did I, and we will definitely stay in touch with several families. Thank you both so much for being great hosts! We will most definitely be coming on an swk holiday again, and the girls are already asking me what the next one is!! After this holiday, I don’t think we will be able to do any other holiday again as we enjoyed ourselves so so much, and the laid back easy-going manner was most definitely a positive. Thanks for a great holiday!! "
" I just wanted to say my daughter and I have today returned from the 3 night break at The Fort in Wales. As this was our first trip I was obviously a tad nervous and apprehensive. But we found it great fun and even relaxing !!!! The coordinator Jo was great,From the time we arrived she made us feel welcome and part of the group. The other parents were also friendly and welcoming. As were the older kids,Very helpful and friendly to the younger ones. Looking forward to next trip.
If it is your first time and still thinking about booking,Take the leap you won`t regret it !! "
" I have just returned from my first SWK holiday to Majorca. What a fab time we had. Of course it was nerve racking to start with but everyone was so friendly. A big thank you to Chrissie who made us so welcome. Everyone helped everyone out so it felt like you were on holiday with your family – perfect for people like me who have children of different ages with very different interests and needs.
When I think of the 3 holidays I took the kids on before SWk on my own and how lonely I felt and compare it to Majorca there is no comparison !!! I made some great friends that I have seen since arriving back in England – even though they live “up North” and they have introduced me to other SWK members too! My kids made great friends too, who they cant wait to meet up with at Wickstead. So if you are reading this and you have booked something and are nervous – don’t be! you will have a great time If you are thinking about taking the plunge and booking a SWK holiday go on do it! "
