After a long, cold winter, we’re itching to get our tents out again and are starting our season earlier this year, with our first camping trips in May. This weekend will be spent at an award winning campsite in the heart of the beautiful Peak District, the home of some of the best places for camping holidays in the UK.
As the second most visited national park in the world, the Peak District offers everything from quaint villages, bustling market towns and historic houses to stunning scenery, superb walking and cycle paths.
Our campsite is the ideal base from which to explore the area’s natural beauty. There are numerous picturesque walks that lead from the park, following the course of the River Dove, running right into the heart of Dovedale. In this dramatic limestone ravine, you can cross the river on the iconic large stepping-stones. Adventure out with the kids into the secluded woodlands and discover the local wildlife and rare wild flowers.
The river and the trails continue their passage onto the Manifold Valley, where you can see some of the most spectacular scenery in the Peak District National Park. Just 500 yards away is the now famous Tissington Trail, which you can explore on foot or bicycle. The trail follows the old Buxton to Ashbourne railway and from here you can escape into the secluded countryside, a blissful setting without the interference of cars, pollution or noise.
Ashbourne is our nearest town, just a 20-minute walk away, following the Tissington Trail. Ashbourne offers a delightful shopping experience, combining historic architecture with a wealth of quality shops, pubs, restaurants and teashops
Matlock Bath is nearby, where you can visit the Heights of Abraham by cable car, visit local caves, or pay a visit to a local theme park. Gullivers World is a great value day out which the kids will adore, at around £15 per person. Alton Towers is also just a short drive away.
We host a number of different camping and glamping holidays for single parent families in spring and summer. The Spring Camp is our first of the season and we’ll be joined by other lone parent families looking to get back outdoors and enjoy a little adventure!
We’ll be able to detach from modern technology and make the most of a few days at a relaxed pace. The kids will be able to make friends within our group and run wild in the adventure playground. The evenings are the perfect time for you to get to know other single parents whilst we chat and laugh around the campfire.
This is a weekend break from Friday 12th May 2016 leaving Sunday 14th May 2017. As we have our designated area on site, you can leave at leisure – no having to rush to pack up and leave by 11am!
We host a range of glamping and camping trips for single parent families throughout the season, if you’d like to lean more, click here.

Suitable for all. We have a large field on this site with plenty of room for the tents to be well spaced out if anyone wants to find a quieter corner for little ones. There’s lots of space for the children to play, the site also has an adventure playground and swimming pool (unsupervised).

The campsite has won a variety of awards and offers a good mix of relaxation, fantastic habitat and good facilities.Everybody will enjoy the many walks nearby, and there is an outdoor heated swimming, pool and table tennis available.
There is a well stocked shop on site, a pub and snack bar, with an adventure playground for the children. For any keen fishermen the site has well-stocked fishing lakes with an on-site brewery to warm up afterwards.
We have secured our own spacious field on the site and limited the number of pitches on this trip to 40, early booking is recommended to secure your place.
The cost is based on a camping pitch without electric hook up, and including 1 adult and 1 child – the pitch can hold either a tent, campervan or caravan . There’s a small charge for additional adults, children, cars or gazebos/ pup tents. The cost includes use of the site facilities, outdoor swimming pool, adventure playground and pub, there is a small cost for the showers (a couple of 20p pieces required).
You will need to provide your own tent or campervan – for any beginners you can pick up tents fairly cheaply at a variety of outdoor stores, our forum is a useful source of information on this.
Additional children aged 3 and under are free. Please note, the site are strict on noise late at night and there is a £20 per pitch deposit payable upon arrival – this will be refunded on leaving the site as long as there hasn’t been excess noise (In practice the site hasn’t imposed this for a number of years now, but we include it in case they decide to do so – forewarned is forearmed!)
This is a larger trip and we have a huge field with lots of space for the children to run around. As one of the first camping holidays of the season, this trip does sell out quickly.
