Severn Valley Camp
A great central location for this camping weekend and another award winning site. We’ll be staying near the town of Stourport-on-Severn, a unique Georgian canal town in the heart of the Severn Valley.
Water brought about the creation of Stourport and continues to shape the town today. The River Severn (the UK’s longest river), the River Stour, and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal surround and intersect the town – creating unlimited leisure opportunities on and by the water and a variety of attractive destinations in the surrounding picturesque Severn Valley.
Just 3 miles south of Kidderminster, Stourport-on-Severn is the third of the Wyre Forest towns. Stourport is the product of the Canal building era of the18th century and was specifically built to meet the needs of the canal age. The town had always been an attractive summer destination for the workers of the West Midlands attracted by the Rivers and surrounding countryside and forest, Stourport proved to be a popular destination. The growth in leisure boating both on the river and canal has seen a resurgence of the declining canal basins and a major overhaul and rebuilding of the dock basins has seen the change in Stourport from an inland port to an inland resort.

Our campsite for this trip occupies some 65 acres circling the 17th century manor house alongside the River Severn, a short riverside stroll from Stourport-on-Severn.
The park offers a peaceful setting amongst mature deciduous and and evergreen tree lined avenues, with a level terrain great for cycling. The touring and camping facilities are top standard and highly regarded by regular revisiting customers.
Our rally field is level, well drained and in a lovely picturesque position alongside the River Severn. Adjacent to the rally field are washroom facilities with, W.C.s, washbasins, showers (no charge for hot water), electric razor points, hand and hair dryers, as well as a public telephone.
For anyone keen on fishing, the campsite holds fishing rights on the River Severn – Park fishing permits are available at £3.00 per week/part week There is access to the river for the launching of small boats and dinghies.
We’ve chosen this campsite for its great location, the site is only a ten minute walk along the riverbank from the holiday resort town of Stourport-on-Severn where there is a wide choice of Public Houses, eating places and visitor attractions.
Near to the site entrance, there is a 7 day a week shop selling most essential items, there is also a children’s playground on site.
Please note, this is a family campsite and as such has regulations on late night noise.
If you can tear yourself away from the peace and relaxation of the campsite, an amble along the river bank to Stourport is a must. Whether you take advantage of the riverside position with a boat trip or a visit to the Riverside amusements, or amble around the town and stop at tea rooms, the town has something to attract all. For anyone wishing to add a little more adventure into their weekend, the West Midland Safari park is within easy reach, once voted Britain’s best family attraction. Smaller (less fierce ) animals can be found at Ray’s Farm in Bridgnorth.
On the Saturday evening we’ll have an SWK get-together, toasting marshmallows around a campfire while the sun sets – is it any wonder camping is so popular?
