New Forest Camp

New Forest Camp

The New Forest is a fabulous location for a single parent holiday – there can be few other places in England where the ancient landscape has remained so unchanged and uncommercialised.

In 1079 when William The Conqueror named the area his ‘new hunting forest’, little could he imagine that nearly 1000 years later his ‘Nova Foresta’ would still retain its mystery and romance.

The New Forest is a lively, working landscape with many secrets to discover. The forest is a living and working place where ponies and cattle freely graze the land and help to keep the patchwork of different habitats intact. Deeper in the forest, wild deer browse beneath canopies of mighty oak and beech – natural scenes unchanged by the modern world.

Forest Activities

There are numerous attractions in the forest that offer all types of activities for most types of taste. The obvious attraction that most people will come to the forest for is the outstanding natural beauty and wildlife, however there is so much more to see and do in the forest that you may have to stay a little longer than you originally thought!

For children the forest is a magical place, a place where they become cowboys and indians hiding amongst the trees, the place where making dens and climbing trees takes over from Nintendos and technology, a place they can spend all day in the fresh air and still want more.

If you have a bit more energy you could always hire a bike and really discover the forest in the best way possible. With many miles of car free cycle tracks you can get up close to the real forest and to the wildlife.

This is a weekend break, from 30th June until 2nd July 2017 –  a great way to spend some of the lightest nights of the year. The trip starts Friday (most people arriving after work or school), leaving at leisure on Sunday

The campsite is in Brockenhurst in Hampshire, in the beautiful New Forest. The post code for sat navs is SO42 7QL

Family Ages

The Campsite

A spacious site from which to enjoy the forest, our campsite is a New Forest heathland site with recently refurbished bathroom facilities – a location which really gives you the freedom the forest. As expected in the New Forest, the site has its own unique atmosphere as well as a scattering of ponies and deer.

The site really does offer a back to nature experience. There’s no shop on site, just acres of clearing in a forest, but with warm toilet and shower facilities.

Youngsters can enjoy junior fishing on-site and nearby Beaulieu hosts several tourist attractions including the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey

As a forest location unfortunately this campsite doesn’t allow campfires or any wood burning stoves but barbecues are fine.

Things To Do

The New Forest is a genuine walker’s paradise with many circular and linear routes – do make the most of this with a walk through the forest.  There are many picnic and toilet facilities, all of which are carefully sited to allow visitors safe and easy access to a variety of forest landscapes.. The New Forest is a fantastic place for cycling with miles and miles of traffic free tracks leading you right into the heart of the forest with few hills to worry about – it’s worth bringing your bike.
On the Saturday evening we’ll have an SWK get-together and enjoy the forest at dusk, the most atmospheric time and the best chance of seeing deer, bats and nightjars.

The site is also within a short drive of the South Coast and some of Hampshire’s leading attractions such as Beaulieu Motor Museum and Paulton Park should anyone be able to tear themselves away from our lovely forest setting. Alternatively why not sit and while the day away relaxing with other adults whilst the children built their dens and have adventures in the forest?
