Fun on the Farm

Camping, with a rather glamorous difference! Our summer glamping trip to West Sussex is fun on the farm for single parents and kids of all ages. Explore bluebell fields  and barbecue under the stars while the kids make new furry friends and get enjoyably soaked in an outdoor water play area, finishing each day in a comfortable, cosy cabin tent.

Things To Do

This UK glamping holiday is in a fantastic spot just an hour away from London, in a gorgeously scenic location.  We’re staying on an organic farm on the edge of woodland, where there are birds, deer and butterflies to spot and walks and cycle rides to enjoy on the nearby South Downs Way.  The farm has cows, horses, chickens and adorable lambs to make friends with, along with a fun outdoor wet play area and a great covered spot for summer barbecues with the group.

From the farm, you can reach the market towns of Chichester or Horsham, along with lots of other local attractions including golf courses, wildlife centres and even famous racecourses. Whatever your pleasure – be it having adventures in the woods, collecting hen’s eggs, drinking in the scenery on a cycle trail or enjoying a lazy canal boat ride – this trip has it all.

Best of all, this is a glamping holiday. This means a taste of the great outdoors, with its fresh air, fabulous scenery and clear skies perfect for stargazing, but with all the comforts of our other UK single parent holidays. We’re staying in cosy canvas tents with ready-made beds, wooden floors, kitchens, flushing toilets and wood-burning stoves – let’s glamp!

Glamping in England

What is Glamping?

For those of us who enjoy taking some time out from our busy lives and escaping with the kids for a few days, glamping in the UK is perfect. Our glamping holidays are always held in stunning locations where single parents can kick back and enjoy some quality family time. As our trips are held in the beautiful UK countryside, you don’t need to worry about long stressful journeys and can make the most of your time away.

Glamping trips have become incredibly popular for single parent family holidays as they give us the chance to enjoy life at a slower pace for a while, but to do it in style! Think camping, but with a glamorous upgrade. You’ll feel close to nature without compromising on comfort. Our Fun on the Farm glamping trip is held on a real life farm where we stay in canvas lodges that you and the kids will love. The lodges are cosy and many even have double beds, perfect for those who enjoy their creature comforts!

Our UK glamping holidays are all designed with single parent families in mind, the locations are child friendly with loads to see and do – there’s fun to be had for everyone! The trips give you an exciting opportunity to meet like-minded single parents and make some fantastic new friends.

As well as Fun on the Farm we also run other fabulous glamping trips such as our Wigwam Break and Tipi Holiday.

Accommodation

Our accommodation is really exciting! We’re staying in canvas lodges but with their own bedrooms! The floors are wooden, the kitchens have cold running taps and there’s an olde worlde style cooking stove in each tent. With comfortable living spaces,  and cute cabin beds for kids, this is glamping like you’ve never experienced it before. All lodges have real beds and a flushing toilet too. Communal hot showers are nearby, close to the farmhouse.

Our canvas lodges also have wood-burning stoves for cooking and keeping things cosy in the evenings, as well as an outdoor cooker and seating. Situated on the edge of a bluebell wood, we also have access to some great communal spaces including a covered barbecue area – perfect for making new friends and enjoying group gatherings. There is no electricity in the lodges, oil lamps complete the olde worlde experience. This is a holiday for those really wishing to escape for a few days !

The canvas lodges house from 6 to 10 people,  the booking is per room in a shared lodge, you’ve always company once the kids are in bed.  What’s more, Single With Kids have the whole site, so everyone is a single parent family and fun and friendship are definitely the name of the game.

What's Included

This is a self-catering single parents glamping trip, so no meals will be provided. However, we may be organising some group meals and get-togethers. More details will be available closer to the event.

Each canvas lodge has the following – please note, your booking will be for one of the  rooms in a shared canvas lodge (or two if you have a larger family)

  • Double bed room for 2 people (bed size 2m x 1.80m)
  • Bunk bed room for 2 people  (bed sizes 2m by 0.9m)
  • Cabin bed – housed in a wooden cabin. This is a smaller bed suitable at 2m x 1.3m, we recommend this for children only.
  • Flushing toilet
  • Deck chairs (x2)
  • Outdoor cooker
  • Bed linen
  • The Farm Tour given by the farmer
  • Eggs (from the chicken coop, when they are happy)
  • Cold running water
  • Wood for heating and cooking
  • Starter pack candles
  • Starter pack lamp oil
  • Kitchen Linen Package
  • Parking

If you have a family of 3 or more, we recommend booking a double or bunk room plus  the cabin bed, the latter is always loved by kids!

Things to Do

There is lots to do in this fabulous rural location, from helping to feed the farm animals and collecting eggs to building dens, climbing trees and spotting butterflies in the bluebell wood. If you stay on site, there’s an ideal barbecue spot for group get-togethers, while the children make new friends splashing about in the outdoor water play area and playing football or badminton on the play pitch.

Fans of walking and cycling will be delighted with the South Downs Way and the scenic towpath walks and canal boat rides, and fishing fans will be in heaven at the nearby Furnace Lakes Fisheries. Delicious pub grub can be sampled at the nearby village of Rudgewick, whilst a trip further afield to the market towns of Chichester and Horsham is perfect for shopping, eating and drinking.

As ever, the trip will be accompanied by a Single With Kids’ coordinator, who will arrange get togethers throughout the break, and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Trip Size

This is a great size trip, with no more than 32 single parents and kids glamping under the stars. The group size is perfect for activities and socialising, but not too big to put newcomers off – perfect if it’s your first Single With Kids holiday.

Testimonials

Our single parents glamping and camping trips are hugely popular and they get rave reviews! Take a look below at some of the most recent feedback from holidaymakers who've been on our camping and other UK trips...

Michelle & George 5 - (Fun on the Farm)

" From Mum's perspective - Using the stove, the amazing view from the tent and good company. George's perspective; going in the sea and going on a steam train. "

Susan & William 9 - (Fun on the Farm 2016)

" It was nice to talk to parents in the same situation as me. "

Joanne & Child - (Fun on the Farm)

" Fantastic location, pristine 'canvas cottages' and lovely new friends - could not have asked for more. "

Fiona & Child - (Fun on the Farm)

" Everything was perfect except the weather! The tents were amazing, Leigh our coordinator was fabulous and the farmer John and his wife Sharon were exceptional hosts. All in all a fabulous holiday and I will definitely be tempted to go again next year. It was the perfect introduction to SWK, I didn't feel as if I was floundering on my own and the Glamping tents were amazing! "

Karen & Naomi 8, William 5 - (Fun on the Farm 2016)

" Seeing the children all together making friends and having other adults around to chat to. The children loved the outdoor shower, the animals and woods and the trips we made out, especially to Go Ape. They also loved cooking outdoors. "

Mark & Libby-Rae 4 - (Tipis 2015)

" It was a great venue and experience. It's so good to see kids run wild with nature and have fun without so much as a ride, slot machine or electronic game in sight. "

Annette & Olin 11 - (Wigwams 2015)

" A great holiday in fun accommodation. Even though this was our second year there were still plenty of new things to do as well as going back to the places we loved the most. Linda was a great coordinator taking care of everyone. "

Lucita & Leya 6 - (Center Parcs 2015)

" Such a great break! so many activities to do, lovely group of people and really well organised. we both loved it. "

Alex & Ralph 10 - (Wigwams 2015)

" Plenty to see and do to keep kids and adults happy and in a great location with easy access to beautiful sandy beaches. Wigwam site layout with the central barbecue area is ideal for group socialising. "

Tracy & Harley 8 - (Robin Hood's Bay 2015)

" The group was a nice bunch and the coordinator Ann was brilliant. We also had fabulous weather which made the holiday. I think the concept is brilliant and the stigma and feelings of being alone on holiday go away. You quickly start to feel part of something. Like a big family. It's great for the children too so they can play and interact with all ages. "

Jo & Lucy 13, Fabian 7 - (Pembroke 2015)

" BBQ and camp fire singing was great especially cake and candles on my birthday. Grant and his able assistant Phil we're a brilliant double act and had just the right balance between co ordinating and fun. Best holiday we've had in a long time. We all had friends to play with and have already arranged to meet up next half term. "
