Amsterdam house boat holiday/ teepee
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:31:17 PM »
I am possibly just day dreaming, but have tried three years in a row to take me and the kids to amsterdam for a week to do the whole bikes, cloggs, windmills and tulips thing!! ( not the other kind of holiday! ) and never quite got organised. Flights are super cheap and have found some fab accomodation ranging from houseboats to teepee camping. Any one else fancy it?

probably either easter or whit next year.Flights for me and my two with bmi babay come to £224 at the mo and the accomodation varies hugely depending. There are house boats which sleep up to 24 people! or there is a lovely family friendly hostel for abou £10 per night. the teepees when i last checked are about £40-50 for the week - wud need to check tho!"

OKAY,  have looked into the houseboat thing in amsterdam in more detail, and am sooo keen to go!! Ive found this one http://www.houseboathotel.nl/houseboat/accommodation_owners/   ( hmmn dont know if the link worked!!)

It is charter boat BO36

it sleeps between 10-28 people in 14 cabins and you get the whole boat with bar, lounge, deck, 4 bathrooms.kitched etc. If we fill it, it will be £107 per person for 4 nights accomodation.

Flights from manchester for 1 adult and 2 kids came up at £228 with BMI baby.

Have provisionlly checked availability for eater hols ( did 3-7th April ) and is all available at the mo!!!

Check it out and see what you think. If no one wants to come, I will definitely still do, and just book a smaller boat!!!!

You can get the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam - more environmentally friendly than flying. I believe you can also go via Eurostar, £87 from London to Amsterdam.

Gaah, I've just been on the Eurostar web site - what a classic case of how not to design a website. All I wanted to know was the fare from Chesterfield to Amsterdam. Could I find it? Could I bo11ox. So I tried their email form - and that kept telling me I'd not put in an email address, even though I had! Don't they want any business? (Well maybe they don't since the tunnel burnt down).

not going on a ferry am scared stiff of the sea and it sinking- i know, twisted logic, but will be spending enough time on a boat so just wanna get there quick!!

Just shpwn my kids the website with the boats on they look grand

P.S. Theres loads to do for kids, we can go bike riding ect, the boat booking includes a day actualy travelling on the boat round amsterdam. There is a zoo, and huge kids park and museums and allsorts. Not sure wether I'm selling this very well- just got a real interst in going somewhere different to the usual!

I like the sound of this.  Not to sure about the 3 April though unless it's an inset day.  Have u got different holidays or is it your last day of term too?   Would fly from a London Airport tho.  Keep me posted thanks.
